Hoax call says suicide bomber will blow up BSE

Mumbai: The Mumbai police control room received a call on Thursday that claimed a suicide bomber had entered the Bombay Stock Exchange building.

The call was received at 9.15 a.m. “The caller said, BSE me suicide bomber ghusa hai. 10.05 ko blast karega. Khabar pakki hai. [A suicide bomber has entered the BSE. He will carry out the blast at 10.05 a.m. The information is reliable],'” the control room told The Hindu on telephone.

The police and the bomb disposal squad combed the building and made searches, but found nothing.“Many prank calls come. The building has been checked. There is no reason to panic,” Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjeev Dayal told The Hindu. Earlier this month, the Chief Minister's residence received a prank call. The BSE was one of the targets of the 1993 serial blasts.
